A Letter to Our Healthcare Professionals on COVID-19
No matter if you are cleaning the hospital facility, taking care of a patient, or performing a life-saving operation, we thank you.
To Our Healthcare Professionals,
From the depths of our hearts, We Thank You.
Thank you for risking your life and compromising your health for the wellbeing of another person.
Thank you for your selfless energy and the time you have invested and sacrificed away from your family, friends, and loved ones.
Thank you for bravely standing up against COVID-19 amid uncertainty, adversity, unrest, and lack of protective equipment.
Thank you for having the curiosity, compassion, unwavering dedication, and grace to pursue the field of medicine.
Thank you for your patience, your humility, your strength, and your courage to look fear in the eyes and to still find a way.
Thank you for dispelling misinformation, while not allowing your voice and experience to be silenced.
Thank you for your daring leadership and for providing that kind word, that touch, that smile, that care, and that comfort.
Thank you for being a beacon of light and saving grace during our darkest and vulnerable moments.
Thank you for showing us the power of humanity when people unite beyond a common purpose, no matter of race, religion, color, creed, or sexual orientation.
Thank you for being you and for not giving up. This world needs more people like you.
While we may never get to express our appreciation personally, may the words thank you echo our immense and sincere gratitude.
No matter if you are on the frontlines or behind the scenes—no matter if you are cleaning the hospital facility, taking care of a patient, or performing a life-saving operation, we thank you.
We will never truly understand how you feel in your quietest moments or fully grasp the post-traumatic stress you might experience once we overcome these challenging times. You have had our backs during this defining moment in history. It will be our civic duty to have yours going forward.
It should not have taken a pandemic for our society to genuinely recognize you, value you, appreciate you, and celebrate you. You have always warranted that earned acknowledgment. A hero is a person who, in the face of danger, combats adversity through feats of ingenuity, courage, and strength. You are a hero. You are our heroes.
We thank you for your everyday heroics to heal and defeat this virus. We salute you. We honor you. And we are forever indebted and eternally grateful for your servant contributions to the betterment of humanity.
So from the depths of our hearts, Thank You.
P.S. If you are in search of a book recommendation, our team at The Daily Coach highly recommends When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi. At the age of thirty-six, on the verge of completing a decade’s worth of training as a neurosurgeon, Paul Kalanithi was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer. One day he was a doctor treating the dying, and the next he was a patient struggling to live. And just like that, the future he and his wife had imagined evaporated. When Breath Becomes Air is an unforgettable, life-affirming reflection on the challenge of facing death and on the relationship between doctor and patient, from a brilliant writer who became both.
