“Solitude does not necessarily mean living apart from others; rather, it means never living apart from one’s self. It is not about the absence of other people-it is about being fully present to ourselves, whether or not we are with others. Community does not necessarily mean living face-to-face with others; rather, it means never losing the awareness that we are connected to each other. It is not about the presence of other people-it is about being fully open to the reality of relationship, whether or not we are alone.”
— Parker J. Palmer, A Hidden Wholeness: The Journey Toward an Undivided Life

II. Life Is Not Cancelled
As we implement social distancing and remain at home, a unique opportunity is presented to venture beyond our limitations in faith:
Conversations will not be cancelled.
Relationships will not be cancelled.
Love will not be cancelled.
Songs will not be cancelled.
Reading will not be cancelled.
Self-care will not be cancelled.
Hope will not be cancelled.
May we lean into the good stuff that remains.
— Jamie Tworkowski, Bestselling Author & Founder of To Write Love on Her Arms
III. Respond Instead Of Reacting
The truth is that we’ll always have a reaction, but if we keep it to ourselves for a moment we can then decide how we want to act.
Notice yourself reacting instead of responding and practice turning it around.
Pause and take a deep breath.
Label your experience. What are you feeling? Angry? Sad? Frustrated? Afraid of rejection? Often we react from a place of emotion without even knowing that there is emotion there. Allow for clarity. Take some time to feel your feelings.
Once those initial strong emotions move, explore how you want to respond and imagine what the impact of your response might be from a calmer perspective.
When you’re ready, respond.

IV. Question
What is the hardest lesson I have learned but thankful that I did?
The Last Words…
“When faced with a radical crisis, when the old way of being in the world, of interacting with each other and with the realm of nature doesn't work anymore, when survival is threatened by seemingly insurmountable problems, an individual life-form — or a species — will either die or become extinct or rise above the limitations of its condition through an evolutionary leap.”
